El viernes 30 de agosto terminó el plazo para que las organizaciones nacionales pudiesen enviar propuestas de actividades para la Cumbre Social por la Acción Climática. En el proceso se lograron reunir más de 70 actividades, las cuales ahora serán analizadas por el Equipo de Programa con el fin de proponer una primera calendarización del evento.

Por su parte, las organizaciones internacionales tienen plazo hasta el 27 de septiembre para completar y enviar el formulario de actividades, las cuales se integrarán posteriormente en bloques reservados especialmente para ellas. En caso de dudas acerca del tipo de actividades que se pueden proponer, o relacionadas con el relleno del formulario, pueden ponerse en contacto con Joaquín Aedo (aedo@fima.cl), encargado del Equipo de Programa.

Colegio de Profesores se une a Sociedad Civil por la Acción Climática

El Colegio de Profesores de Chile, organización gremial al servicio del profesorado que cuenta con más de 100.000 afiliados, se une a la plataforma ciudadana Sociedad Civil por la Acción Climática con el fin de aportar desde una perspectiva educacional en el combate contra el cambio climático. El gremio se suma a otros colegios profesionales miembros de la Red, tales como el Colegio de Abogados, el Colegio de Ingenieros en Recursos Naturales, el Colegio Médico, y El Consejo de Ingeniería Química y Biotecnología, entre otros.

Fridays For Future Chile convoca a Semana por la Acción Climática en Septiembre

Entre el viernes 20 y 27 de septiembre se llevará a cabo la primera Semana por la Acción Climática (Global Climate Strike), la cual ha sido convocada internacionalmente por el movimiento de jóvenes Fridays For Future. En Chile, esta semana de manifestaciones comenzará el viernes 20 de septiembre con la 3ª Marcha Global por la Crisis Climática, y culminará con un paro global a lo largo de Chile y distintas ciudades del mundo. Otras actividades se están articulando para esta semana, la cual promete ser la jornada de manifestaciones climáticas más grande de la historia, justo en medio de la Asamblea General de la ONU convocada por el  Secretario General Antonio Guterres.

Presidente Piñera lanza «Agenda Ciudadana» de COP25

El presidente Sebastian Piñera y la ministra de Medio Ambiente, Carolina Schmidt, lanzaron este lunes la Agenda Ciudadana de la COP25, en la antesala al evento que se celebrará a partir del 2 de diciembre en Santiago. La iniciativa anunciada contempla 16 festivales regionales a lo largo de Chile, con el objetivo de promover la adopción de estilos de vida más sustentables y amistosos con el medio ambiente.

La Agenda Ciudadana busca incentivar a la ciudadanía a actuar por la acción climática y estará enfocada en 10 grupos prioritarios: gobiernos locales y regionales; los jóvenes y escolares; la sociedad civil y ONGs; la comunidad científica y académica; el sector privado; los parlamentarios; el mundo laboral; las comunidades indígenas; los comunicadores y el mundo de la cultura.

A través de su rector, Ennio Vivaldi, la Universidad de Chile se unió a declarar emergencia climática en una carta firmada por más de 150 universidades a nivel global. Esta es la primera vez que un grupo de universidades se reúne para hacer un compromiso colectivo de cara a los desafíos del calentamiento global. La iniciativa es encabezada por la Alianza para el Liderazgo en Sostenibilidad en la Educación (EAUC), la organización Second Nature, y la Alianza de Jóvenes y Educación de ONU Medio Ambiente.

A través de su firma la Universidad de Chile se comprometió a movilizar más recursos para la acción climática, la investigación y la educación ambiental; a ser universidades neutrales en carbono en el futuro cercano y a fortalecer el currículo ambiental a nivel transdisciplinar. En dos semanas, además, el plantel anunciará una serie de mediadas de mitigación para disminuir las emisiones de la Universidad de Chile, las que se sumarán a acciones como la reforestación masía de Laguna Carén llevada a cabo durante este mes.

The National Teachers Guild, organization at the service of teachers and which has more than 100,000 members, joins the Civil Society for Climate Action platform, in order to contribute from a educational perspective in the fight against climate change. The organization joins other professional guilds part of the network, such as the Lawyers Guild, the Natural Resources Engineers Guild, the Medical Guild, and the Council of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, among others.

Between Friday 20 and 27 September the first Week for Climate Action (or Global Climate Strike) will take place in Santiago and among the world. This has been convened internationally by the Fridays For Future youth movement. In Chile, this week of demonstrations will begin on Friday, September 20 with the 3rd Global March for the Climate Crisis, and will culminate with a global strike throughout Chile and different cities around the world. Other activities are being organized for this week, which promises to be the largest day of climate events in history, right in the middle of the UN General Assembly convened by Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

President Sebastian Piñera and the Minister of the Environment, Carolina Schmidt, launched this monday the Citizen Agenda of COP25, in the prelude to the event to be held from December 2 in Santiago. The announced initiative includes 16 regional festivals throughout Chile, with the aim of promoting the adoption of more sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyles.

The Citizen Agenda seeks to encourage citizens to act for climate action and will be focused on 10 priority groups: local and regional governments; young people and schoolchildren; civil society and NGOs; the scientific and academic community; the private sector; the parliamentarians; the workers; indigenous communities; the communicators and the «culture world»

Through its rector, Ennio Vivaldi, the University of Chile joined to declare a climate emergency in a letter signed by more than 150 universities worldwide. This is the first time that a group of universities meets to make a collective commitment to the challenges of global warming. The initiative is led by the Alliance for Leadership in Sustainability in Education (EAUC), the Second Nature organization, and the Youth and Education Alliance of UN Environment.

Through its signature, the University of Chile committed to mobilize more resources for climate action, research and environmental education; to be carbon neutral universities in the near future and to strengthen the environmental curriculum at the transdisciplinary level. In two weeks, in addition, the campus will announce a series of mitigation measures to reduce emissions from the University of Chile, which will be added to actions such as the massive reforestation of Laguna Carén carried out during this month.
